  • We did not have enough time to review the homework (in order to be able to watch the rest of the movie), so students just turned it in to be graded. The homework included WB 51, Act.3-1 (vocabulary), and Activity 3-11 in the textbook.
  • We went over answers to questions about the movie from yesterday’s graphic organizer handout.
  • We watched the rest of the movie, “The Offical Story” and enjoyed the donuts Mique brought to share.
  • We went over the homework due Monday including the exercises on the last page of the movie comprehension handout.

Tarea:

    1. All printed material for project due.
    2. Complete comprehension questions from movie AND the exercises on the last page. Students should come with lots of examples from movie.
    3. Have your parent/guardian sign your Progress Report. Write a SMART goal related to your Progress Report.

Spanish IV 05-08-08

Español IV 05-08-08

· Maestra Thurber-Brown is at a conference today, so Maestra Range and our favorite substitute teacher, Maestra Fowler taught class.

· Today was Elena’s birthday, so we sang her the traditional birthday song in Spanish, “Las Mananitas.”

· Students wrote explanations of various protections and freedoms provided for in the International Declaration of Human Rights document and the rest of the class tried to guess which they were referring to when they read them out loud.

· Maestra Range checked the homework and went over the answers to Activity 3-2 on p.81 and Activity 3-10 in p.84.

· Maestra Range demonstrated how to print out Power Point presentation handouts for student projects next week. Use the Print menu to print a “handout” with “3” slides to a page, and print it in pure “black & white.”

· Maestra Range and Maestra Fowler handed out Progress Reports. Students will turn them back in to us on Monday, signed by a parent/guardian and with a SMART goal written on it.

· Maestra Range handed out a Human Rights workbook packet, a graphic organizer about the movie and explained the homework assignments.

· To prepare for watching the movie, we reviewed the story “map” students filled out for homework last night. We also discussed some of the questions from the handout. Then we watched the second part of “The Official Story.”

Tarea:

· Complete Derechos Humanos Workbook Packet WB 51, Activity 3-1.

· Do Activity 3-11, p.84 in the textbook.

· Fill out the graphic organizer “Los Personajes” about the movie.

· Have your parent/guardian sign your Progress Report and write a SMART goal. This is due on Monday, May 12.

1. To review vocabulary about places in the community and what we do on errands, students wrote sentences about the pictures on p. 134 of the textbook. (Maestra Range checked in the homework during this time). Students then shared this information in pairs by asking questions of one another. In 4th period, each pair of students performed a short dialogue for the rest of the class.

2. We learned about direct object pronouns by reading p.138 aloud. Students then watched the GramActiva DVD to learn more and take the video quiz.

3. We sang our irregular preterite song several times.

4. We went over the homework including the yellow worksheet 3A-6 & 7 to practice irregular preterite verbs.

5. Students were given their Progress Reports. In 2nd period, there was a computer error on most people’s sheets, so Maestra Range re-collected them and will give them out again when the correction is made.

6. Maestra Range explained the homework.

Tarea:

· Fill out your BINGO game sheet to practice irregular preterite verbs

· Complete the Direct Object Pronouns worksheet, 3A-5 (green)

· Draw sketches of the furniture in the room on the House worksheet (green) to prepare for an activity in class tomorrow.

· 4th period only – Bring back your Progress Report with a parent/guardian signature and a SMART goal on Monday, May 12.
