1. HUGE VERB REVIEW: Conjugation games using the verbs from Capítulo Uno in 6 different verb tenses.
White boards, subject verb cubes, 1 die to indicate which of the 6 tenses and another die to indicate which of the 6 verbs selected for each "round".
(A) First with partners
(B) Whole class using the same prompts.

2. Creating "Snakes and Ladders" review games - working in teams of 4, and using the STUDY GUIDE FOR THE FINAL EXAM, each team started coming up with questions and answers to the specific chapter that team was assigned.

1. Working with a partner, student pairs took turns reading aloud the article from People en español they received yesterday, and reviewed their answers - or in some cases, helped one another come up with their answers - to the summary handout. Next we went over it together.

2. Repaso - Examen del vocabulario Capítulo 4. Most students did well on the test from Monday.

3. Los perfectos - new PACKET: THE PRESENT PERFECT AND PLUPERFECT TENSES. We practiced these COMPOUND TENSES - first reviewing the other compound tenses we've already learned: the present and past progressives. Then we worked our way through this packet - some with partners and some all together - but always verifying our work together.

2. Skit partners rehearsed their "Telenovelas" and then we presented them to the class - Fueron muy buenos, estudiantes - GRACIAS - me gustaron mucho.

3. Introduced "La voz pasiva" - using "se" + present tense verb to say that an action happens without indicating specifically who does the action.

4. We watched a movie in Spanish "Las comidas latinoaméricanas" - many examples of "la voz pasiva".

1. Homework Review - Students took turns reading aloud the article on page 88 - Myrka Dellanos and her trip to Honduras after Huracán Mitch. Then working with a partner, they asked/answered the questions in Ex. 3-16, that they completed as homework. Once done, we reviewed the questions/answers all together.

2. Reviewed corrections from Tuesday's 3A Vocabulary test.

1. ENCUESTA (Survey) - see page 177. Students took a piece of blank paper and folded it in half both lengthwise and crosswise, creating 4 sections.
(A) In the first section students wrote their name and Encuesta p. 177. Then writing VERY SMALL, they copied the survey questions from the one in the book.
(B)"Doing the survey" - rotating partners, students asked and answered the survey questions, writing down their partners answers - using EACH of the remaining sections of the paper for EACH partner.
(C) Students will REPORT some of their survey findings/RESULTADOS on the REVERSE of their survey paper. See TAREA below for instructions.

2. Homework review and corrections:
A - Workbook page 58 - Exercise 4-10 - Nosotros Commands - We reviewed:
1. The "double stem-change in Nosotros/as for STEM-CHANGING -IR VERBS
2. ATTACHING object & reflexive pronouns for AFFIRMATIVE COMMANDS but NOT ATTACHING them with NEGATIVE commands.
3. DROPPING the "S" at the end of the nosotros form BEFORE ADDING THE NOS from REFLEXIVE VERBS.
B - Workbook page 59 - Exercise 4-11 - Possesive Pronouns. We reviewed:
1. The "owner" gives you the "base" form: mí_, tuy_, suy_, etc.
2. What's "owned" gives you the "ending" to the pronoun: mío, mía, míos, mías.

3. TELENOVELAS - work time with partner(s): We reviewed the criteria - see the bottom of the description handout - Calificaciones - BE SURE EVERYONE has EVERYTHING asked for, and be ready to perform tomorrow - You DO NOT have to have it all memorized, but I will appreciate your good acting skills (:>)!

3. Activity 25, page 178 - Reading comprehension + selecting the most meaningful response (working with Lobo partner)

4. Homework review - pp. 56 & 57 in workbook. Note: page 56 was dificilísimo so I gave Puntos extra for that one.

5. Reviewed Los mandatos de nosotros - and then moved back with yesterday's partner -la rana- to complete Act. 33, page 182. We corrected it together afterwards.

6. Introduced/Reviewed Pronombres posesivos - see page 184. I demonstrated how they worked, using items in the classroom, and then we did Act. 36, pg 184.

7. Working with a new partner, el pez, students first read TELENOVELAS - page 178, and received their HANDOUT: UNA SITUACION DRAMATICA to start planning their skit to be ready for FRIDAY. Students also conculted WAVA workbook,page 61 for helpful vocabulary. NOTE - NEED A COPY OF THE HANDOUT? SEE SEPARATE POST.

4. Oral - un problema: Working with a partner, and using the ideas you wrote up as homework last night, created a conversation along the guidelines on the handout from yesterday. Everyone presented their oral at the end of class.

Tarea:
1. Handout: "Pruebas 4-2 & 4-3" - we'll use these as "practice quizzes" - vocabulary and grammar from lesson 4A.
2. Workbook page 55 - Exercise 4-7: BOTH Por versus Para AND the subjunctive.
1st: Fill-in the blank with the correct use of either Por or Para - see page 171 AND your extra packet.
2nd: Write a reaction to the first line using the subjunctive - Follow the model.

1. Student travel consultant, Genevieve Krauss, presented to the class about her experiences as an exchange student to Costa Rica and the value of such experiences.

2. Proyectos -
Período 2ndo: Andrés L. - El Greco; Anita P. - Pablo Picasso
Período 4rto: Today's presenters were "bitten by the technology gremlins" and were unable to present today.

3. Discusión - La historia oficial:
Período 2ndo - I collected and gave credit for the whole packet, returned them and then reviewed the homework together.
Período 4rto - I collected/credited/returned packets - this class only had to complete the first 3 pages. Then they worked in groups of 4's, discussing and completing the last 3 pages in the movie packet.

Tarea:
1. Workbook packet -
(A) pages 54-55 Exercise 3-5: identify the verb in the "que clause"; underline it and indicate if it is in the INDICATIVO (I) or the SUBJUNTIVO (S). Then select an impersonal expression from the box above the exercise that is appropriate in meaning and for the form of the verb after 'que'.
(B)page 55, Exercise 3-6: Conjugate the verb in parenthesis in the form required by the beginning clause of the sentence. Indicativo? Subjuntivo? Infinitivo? You decide.

3. Verb conjugation practice - all of the 7 forms we have studied using the verbs from the lesson on page 196. First as a whole class and then with partners, finally reviewing together the answers from the second group done with partners.

(A) Practiced writing definitions of given vocabulary items - describing the word without using it. We'll do more of these as homework.
(B) Qué falta? - Using flashcard pictures of various vocabulary expressions under the document camera; covering the lens while removing one; students identified which one is missing.

1. Practice Workbook page 52, Ex. 4-4:
FIRST - "unscramble" the vocabulary words in the box at the top of the page. SECOND - complete the blank in each sentence with the appropriate word you have already "unscrambled".
2. Workbook page 53, Ex. 4-5
Start off each sentence with the "YO" form of the verb prompted by the drawing next to each number.
Complete the sentence using the "subjunctive set-up" (...que..)and using the items given per each number. Remember: You will have to decide WHICH VERB makes the most SENSE of the two in the parenthesis AND THEN USE THAT VERB in it's SUBJUNCTIVE form for the subject given.
