Español II el 09 de septiembre de 2011

Viernes - la canción. Started off class teaching this song to students who haven't already learned it since it has become a tradition in my classes. No, this is NOT the YouTube song from last spring!

Personal Descriptions:
1. Power Point = Cómo es? - Reviewed describing what people look like and how they feel. Practicing SER and TENER for expressions of "To be" in English.

2. Writing practice - Answered questions describing people we know - then we shared them aloud with a partner and then with the class.

3. Partner vocabulary drills
- using the flashcards we made as homework.

4. Homework review -
corrected P-1 & P-2 in the workbook packet. We practiced and took notes over the rules for
A. Making plurals for nouns and adjectives
B. Making the adjective match to people described.
C. Forms of the verb SER.
D. Putting it all together in a sentence.

5. Reading and Listening comprehension
- Students read the passage in Activity 4, page 4. Then they listened to 6 statements referring to it and decided if they were True or False (Cierta/Falsa).

Tarea:
1.
We extended the book cover due date to Monday - even though on the board it says "Book cover contest - el viernes".
2. Activity 3, page 3.
Choose 8 celebrities that anyone in the class would know. Write 8 sentences (1 per celebrity) using SER and 2 of the adjectives in our vocabulary for each sentence. We'll use this for a game on Monday.
Example: Enrique Iglesias = El es guapo y artístico.
