Para bailar La Bamba = In order to dance La Bamba. Students received a packet of common songs in Spanish, La Bamba on the last page. Then we listened to TWO versions of La Bamba - Los Lobos and the more traditional one the CD ¡Cantemos en español! We sang along and practiced "Para bailar" I filled in a little history of how this traditional folk song from Veracruz, Mexico came to be a classic rock and roll song.
José Martí, page 25: I referenced "Guantanamera" in the students' song packets and then partners read aloud the Fondo cultural on the bottom of page 25. Then we read the Versos sencillos at the top of the page. We'll listen to the song based on this poem tomorrow.
