Español III el 04 de abril de 2012

1. Conferencia de arte - Today's focus was on Diego Velázquez: We took a virtual tour of El museo del Prado in Madrid and saw Las meninas. I gave an historical background on the artist and an analysis of the painting. Students took notes on their Conferencias de arte packet.

2. Activity 73, Act. 9 = Partner conversation talking about our focus painting, Las meninas.

3. Introduce our last grammar point for this lesson, Estar + past participle adjectives. See page 79. Students first took notes over forming the past participle, then made a T-grid of the irregulars dividing up those that end with "-to" and those that end with "-cho".
Next students wrote out Activity 19, and last we went over the answers together.

4. We corrected the Traducción de práctica, last night's homework and I collected their paragraphs.

I showed an example of a folder all about the past tense the students will be creating bit-by-bit, and handed out a copy of printed on paper. For homework you'll come with 2 sets of sentences in the preterite that we will use to start your "Carpeta del pasado":

Tarea (3 items in all) - Be sure to read the preceding about the past folder for #s 1 & 2:

1. Select 5-7 important LIFE EVENTS. Write a sentence for each - using the preterite. Be able to give a date for them - just a year is alright, but a specific date is even better.

2. Write a separate sentence for each of the following TIME EXPRESSIONS that signal using the preterite: (1) Ayer (2) El año pasado (3) Hace dos semanas (4) El sábado por la noche (5) Cuando - something happened (verb in the preterite ) ... someone one reacted (another verb in the preterite). (6) Una vez ...

3. Otra tarea: WAVA packet - Activity 6: Práctica del vocabulario
