Spanish II 04-02-08

Español II - 2 de abril de 2008

  • Period 2 – I read the information about the all-school testing that will be happening on April 23: ACT for Juniors; EXPLORE for Frosh and PLAN for Sophomores. See www.actstudent.org for more information, as well as the yellow or green handouts on the “tarea” bulletin board.
  • Precaliento = warm-up activity of writing out sentences using reflexive verbs, while homework was checked in. Afterwards we reviewed use of these types of verbs while correcting our work.
  • Homework correction: We reviewed the key words from the study points of the Reflexive Pronouns packet, pp. 175-176, and then corrected the exercises a, b, and c on page 177. Then we went over the answers to the questions from the survey form. Students were to only have answered the questions for themselves, in the second section labels, “mi información personal”.
  • Encuesta: Students then practiced asking and answering the questions from the survey while having one-on-one conversations with up to 4 different classmates.
  • Gram Activa: We watched the DVD grammar section over Reflexive verbs and then we watched the introduction to the uses of Ser and Estar. We talked a little about these two verbs that both mean “to be” in English but have distinct uses in Spanish.
  • Tarea:
    1. Complete the 3rd section of the Encuesta – Lo que dicen mis compañeros (What my classmates say) using the information you discovered during your conversations today. Write at least 2 plural sentences, combining like information from 2 people. These might be in either the nosotros or the ellos forms. Don’t write all of them in the plural, however. Please DO include peoples’ names in your sentences.
    2. Write 10 complete sentences describing your typical daily routine (Mi rutina diaria) incorporating the reflexive verbs from your 2A verb grid and/or the yellow Reflexive Pronouns packet.
