1. Demonstrative Adjectives:  We reviewed our "poem", Did ACTIVIDADES 19 & 20 - pg. 114, Watched the Gram Activa, Completed the rest of Exercise D on yesterday's handout and got a new handout with flashcards on the back.

2. We corrected the Crucigrama & the Preterite Verb Grid (page 2).  Then we did partner drills - asking/answering questions.

3. More preterite practice = LOTERIA - Review of Regular Forms. (handout)

Tarea:
1. Workbook pp. 42 & 44 (NOT 43!)
2. Complete Verb Grid page 3 (BUT NOT Ir nor Irse)

1. Shared some "texting" Spanish and other spanish Language realia = Biodegradable paper plate wrappers & a gift certificate
2. More text analysis = Working with a partner, we read aloud the article about sound pollution that is in the packet about analyzing an informative article.  Then we debriefed altogether - talking about the topic as well as the format of the article.
3. Reviewed the vocab = pg. 60, corrected the homework - List & Handout (tarea de vocabulario - pg.60)
4. El subjuntivo - Introduced/Reviewed the major elements: What it is, How it is formed and How it is used.  The text pps. 64-65 are NOT really that helpful - NEW packet, I'm calling the "Paquete del texto".  2 pages of overview & 1 page of exercises.
Tarea:
1. Complete the exercise & translation practices on today's subjunctive packet.
2. Read & analyze another short article, "Limpie su casa naturalmente".  Label the article using the same format as is modeled in today's in-class reading article.

2. Homework correction - Práctica con el pretérito - Buen trabajo, estudiantes!
Much better homework completion than yesterday - Gracias!

3. Preterite conjugation practice - partner game with white board and www.conjuguemos.com
We used the "Regular Preterite" game.  TEST on FRIDAY!

4. Introduced/Reviewed  - Demonstrative Adjectives.  Modeled how to use them, Students took notes, We read the book - pg. 114, and did most of a 2-sided handout.

Reminded the class to PLEASE NOT TAKE THE PRINTED BLOG PAGES hanging in the classroom so they are there for everyone to use.  11/16 & 11/26 were missing this morning (:<) 
1.  NEW LESSON  = 2B.
  •  El artículo del texto - pg. 59 "La Centenela".  Students read aloud with partner
  • Handed out a new vocabulary list - :pg. 60
  • Wrote out answers to Act. 21, pg. 61.
  •  We discussed article while debriefing Act. 21.
2. Text types - Reading & Writing
  • Handout: Content Components for Writing (2011 NAEP Writing Assessment) = Communicative Purposes, Audiences, Approached, Forms Evaluation Criteria.  
  • Using yesterday's handout: Tipo de texto - expositivo - We analyzed the structure of La Centinela, pg. 59 

3. Orals  - Situation Card Handout - Hagamos una fiesta.(Groups of 6)
  • Explained format for conversation and peer written recording of elements of the conversation.
  • Each person speaking has 1 person writing his/her (1) sentences with the future and (2) the questions s/he asks.
  • Group members will rotate into each of the 3 roles (Speaker, Writer of future use, Writer of questions asked.)
  • Context = 2 friends planning/negotiating the details of a party.
Tarea:
1. Fill-in the Vocabulary Sheet - pg. 60
2. Complete the Repaso 2A packet, begun last night.

1. Oraciones: Prácticas con el futuro y el condicional
2. Repaso de la tarea = El paquete – Futuro/Condicional
3. Discusión – ¿Qué es la diferencia entre un bosquejo y un resumen?  - Some students are just recopying the articles and calling that either an outline or a summary.  Neither is what I’m looking for – I want you to be able to use YOUR OWN SPANISH words to say the main concepts.  In an outline we list the importance of the ideas and their supporting details in a heirarchy.
4. Practiced an OUTLINE (Bosquejo) – Working with a partner –Wrote a new one from last night’s article, Rock con conciencia.  We then debriefed this all together.
5. HANDOUT/Paquete: El manual de estilos de texto: Text expositivo o explicativo.  The front page is a chart showing the elements of an explanatory/informative piece of writing.  The next two pages demonstrate HOW TO ANALYSE this type of writing.
6. Vocabulario – pg 46 – Mis categorias: This handout is an example of HOW YOU can learn the vocabulary in a more meaningful way. (1) Divide the words into categories that make sense to you. (2) Find MORE WORDS that fill out your categories that are ones YOU WANT TO KNOW and think YOU WILL WANT to USE when talking/writing about these topics.
Tarea:
1. Read the article on page 59 – and be ready to talk about it, using the ANALYSIS from the Text expositivo o explicativo handout.  See page 60 for vocabulary.

El pretérito:  We reviewed this NEW verb form for us - The simple past. 
See page 110 in the text book. 
We  (1) Got 3-page handout (Note: the packet is put together out of order - check to see the correct one.)
(2) Learned TIME EXPRESSIONS that help us to know WHEN to USE the Pretérito.
(3) Read page 110 & watched the Gram Activa
(4) Practiced conjugations with a NEW VERB GRID (1st page only), Partner Questions and the Conjugation Ball Toss Game.

El vocabulario & la gramática en contexto - Reviewed page 124 and then watched the Video Historia - see pages 104-105.

1.  Warm-up: Activity 1, pg. 98, Part 1.  Students write (NOT 3 – as directions say but) FIVE sentences combining elements from the Vocabulary Graphic Organizer @ the top of the page.  Where do they go to buy something; What are they buying; and What is it like?  
2.  Activity 1 – part 2 – Working with their seat partners.
3.  Reviewed Cardinal Numbers – page 99 = Pronunciation and the details in the notes in the box at the top of the page.
4. Activities 2 & 3 = practicing the numbers.

(C)  Played the DVD – Capítulo 9. Students complete the rest of the activities.

5. Working with their seat partner, students READ aloud to each other– El movimiento ecológico costarricense – Textbook, page 54, and then created a Compare/Contrast chart – like the one from their listening activity – Comparing Portland to Costa Rica.
