Spanish II 11-20-07

Spanish II 11-20-07

  • Quiz: Time Expressions that go with the preterite (13.5 points)

We took the quiz, and then corrected it in class.

  • Reviewed & corrected the –ar verbs in the preterite from our homework verb grid.
  • Reviewed the regular –er & -ir preterite verb forms, and then started the class on these on the same verb grid.
  • Introduced the spelling changes in the preterite in YO for verbs ending with –gar, as in Pagar. To keep the “hard g sound” next to the é ending for Yo, one must add a “u” before the “é”→ pagué. This is ONLY in YO.
  • We practiced the forms of Comprar, Pagar and Costar in the preterite by asking and answering the follow questions in a survey format of 3 other students:

¿Qué compraste?...¿Dónde lo/la/los/las compraste?...¿Cómo pagaste?...¿Cuánto costó/costaron?

  • Period 2 played Lotería – el cuerpo humano
  • Period 4: Introduced the other spelling changers and irregular verbs on the backside of the verb grid. –car verbs, like tocar, and –zar verbs, like empezar, also have spelling changes ONLY in YO.

Tocar = Toqué, tocaste, etc.; Empezar = empecé, empezaste, etc.
