El español II - el 28 de febrero de 2013

1. Introduced the NEW LESSON - 1B: Goals, on page 45, Introduction to Vocabulary - pp. 46 & 47.  Comprehension Activities 1 & 2.  Practiced the vocabulary on page 68.

2. Showed where all the important study pages on in the chapter - as part of reviewing what you'll be able to do by the end of this lesson.  We'll practice each a little everyday.

3. Comparisons - quick review of all three types - see the Recuerdas? box at the top of page 53.
We watched the Gram Activa and did the little quiz.  Got a NEW PACKET - Comparison of Adjectives.  We worked through the FIRST type = Comparisons of Equality.  (Just as tall as; Just as many --- as).  Pages 151-152 in the packet.

4. Introducing South America - we watched some more of this movie.

Tarea:
1. Complete your flashcards for Lesson 1B (re: pg. 68) - #s 25-47
2. Workbook page 18 - Vocabulary practice.
3. STUDY - work on learning your NEW words AND review some "Old" vocabulary.

3. Started reading the Mexican folk tale, Juan Bobo.

Tarea:
Finish Juan Bobo and write out the Comprendió Ud. questions for Parte I and Parte II (Numbers 1-23).

1. White 2-sided handout practicing pp. 42 & 43: Free time activities, places to go, the two uses of the verb "Ir" - to go to a place & to be going to do something.

2. Homework corrections: WB16 & 17 and the pink handout from yesterday's class over pp. 42 & 43

3. ENCUESTA - Conversation practice asking/answering classmates about what they do and where they go on Saturday evenings.

4. Started the movie, "Introducing South America" - get the handout of questions.

Tarea:
1. Fill in the WHOLE new vocabulary list for Lesson 1B - see page 63.
2. Make flash cards for items 1-24 on the vocabulary list 1B
3. Block 4 - Complete your write-up of the Encuesta

3. Paquete del PRETERITO - reference guide.

4. Clarified the TEST tomorrow: All forms of the preterite using the verbs from the chapter, your verb grids and basic verbs from previous years of Spanish.

Tarea:
1. STUDY! - Know the MEANINGS of the verbs from the chapter as well as how to form the preterite.

1. Review/Warm-up partner questions – using the verbs and topics from Lesson 1A.
2. Repaso – Tarea: WB 14 & 15.
3. Took Lesson 1A Exam. today (65 points!)
4. Pink handout: practicing the Spanish I topics about free time: WHERE one could GO; and WHAT one is GOING TO there.  See pages 42 & 43 in your textbook.
Tarea:
1. Finish the pink handout from after today’s test.
2. Workbook pages 16 & 17 – MORE practice from pages 42 & 43.

1. Turned-in the El escudo response sheets
2. Don Quixote (Quijote) – Act. 11, pg. 17 en el texto: We did some background discussion about Don Quixote before doing this exercise practicing the preterite.
3. El pretérito indefinido (packet)
(A) We reviewed the “apuntes” – study notes on the first couple of pages, and then reviewed the homework corrections.
(B) Working with an “appointment partner” – students continued working ahead in the packet.
(C) We went over exercise 4 together.
4. Review of the IB Scoring Guides for Written and Oral work.
5. La abeja haragana – El teatro de lectura: I gave a “dramatic” reading of the first half of the story – checking for understanding along the way. We just got started on the second part when class ended.
Tarea:
1. Complete the Preterito Indefinido packet THROUGH Ex. 7
2. Text – pg. 17, Act. 12
3. Prep – as much as you can – for an IB Interactive Oral: Prepped and presented during class tomorrow.  We’ll be focusing the situation on a preterite use of the past.  Know the verbs from the lesson.
