Read "Una leyenda mexicana" - El jaguar y el grill - pp. 202-203. We answers the comprehension questions and then used the story to analyze when to use the preterite and the imperfect. Briefly shared about a partner writing project we'll be doing this week: creating a story similar to the "leyenda mexicana" by using two animals as the main characters and telling about something that happened to them using these two past tenses. We'll talk more about this tomorrow!
More Preterite/Imperfect:
1. Ritmos infantiles - New handout: We learned a couple of songs and a couple of tongue twisters that use the preterite and the imperfect.
2. Corrected homework - Ex. B, The Preterite and Imperfect Tenses Compared packet.
More homework corrections: Workbook pp. 82 & 83: Vocabulary in context.
Talked about using the Reflexive Pronouns in their plural form to indicate people doing the actions for one another (examples used on WB83). This is referred to as "Reciprocal Actions".
Want more preterite and imperfect practice? Check out these exercises at Barbara Kuczun Nelson's website at Colby College. When you answer you get feedback about if is correct or wrong and WHY.
Tarea:
Do all of Exercise D in the Preterite and Imperfect Tenses Compared packet. Yes, that IS 20 sentences - but I'll be counting it as DOUBLE HOMEWORK POINTS!
