  • We listened to “Música navideña”

  • Received packet of word puzzles pertaining to Hispanic holiday customs – may complete over the vacation, due upon return @ 2 points/page extra credit.

  • Guest speaker – Peace Corps Volunteer home from Panamá for vacation.  Gave a presentation in Spanish telling us about his experiences while showing us his photos via Power Point.

  • ¿Tarea? !No hay!  Que pasen los días festivos muy contentos en compañía de los suyos.

  • Guest Speaker: Mr. Teschner’s nephew, a Peace Corps volunteer to Panamá, home for winter break.  Showed us a Power Point and explained his experiences in Panamá.

  • Finished the video Elf, in Spanish.

  • Started the holidays activity packet – may finish over winter break, for 2 points extra credit per page completed.

  • ¡Felices fiestas!  ¡Nos vemos en el año nuevo! – Happy holidays!  We’ll see each other in the new year!

  • Went over the answers with the whole class.

  • Period 2 – corrected Act. 3, page 155.

  • Periods 2 & 4 – watched some of Elf, in Spanish – of course!

  • Warm-up: Reading about La Virgen de Guadalupe (today is her Saint’s Day) and the discovery of the reflection of Juan Diego in the pupil of her eye in the image.

  • Stamped and credited the homework.

  • Tomás presented his project on Los Incas.

  • Victoria presented her project on Los bailes de España.

  • Began reviewing the tarea: vocabulary activity 3-3.

  • Tarea: Workbook Activities 3-3 & 3-4, practicing the subjunctive with impersonal expressions, on pages WB 53 & WB54

  • Reviewed the vocabulary from pp 154-5.

  • Got new vocabulary sheet (that includes ALL of lesson 3-B: A ver si recuerdas and the regular lesson 3-B) and practiced saying the words.

  • Gave extra notes over the vocabulary.

  • Practiced the Directions Rhyme

  • Announced the dates of the quizzes and tests for 3B: (1) Directions Rhyme- the 14th of December (2) Recognition of all of the vocabulary – January 5th
      (3) Spelling test (Production)- January 8th (4) Chapter test – January 10th.
Tarea/Homework:  Activity 3, page 155.  Practicing the verbs that end with –go in the present tense.

  • Introduced 3B- A ver si recuerdas – pp. 154 & 155:
Prepositions of place, Modes of transportation, and extra notes (apuntes) – I sent a copy of these to this blog site.
Present-tense verbs that end with”-go” in the Yo form and their equivalent en the preterite.
  • Reviewed the Directions Rhyme – Find it on this Blog site.  Practiced as a whole class and in partners.  

  • Verified our 3-A homework packets and turned them in.

  • Period 2 -  Started watching Elf in Spanish; Period 4 listened to and sang the songs to the Pancho Claus packet as well as the traditional ones in the white song packet.

  • Homework:  
  1. Make a study system (fan-folds, flashcards, or long paper fold) for the vocabulary presented today.
(2) Start memorizing the Directions Rhyme for a written test and performance on Thursday.

  • We read about open-air markets, on page 148, and then discussed it.  This information will be included in tomorrow’s test.

  • We did exercises 5 & 7 in the WAVA workbook pp. 49 & 50 – practicing vocabulary and the direct object pronouns.

  • Partner drill – direct object pronouns.  Using a flashcard of sentences in English we practiced saying direct pronouns.

  • We took the vocabulary 3A spelling test.

  • We got a white packet of review exercises for the test.  We practiced more direct object pronouns, and the preterite forms of Ser/Ir and Estar, Tener, Poder and Hacer.

  • Tarea:  Complete the review packet and Study pages 152 & 153 for tomorrow’s lesson test.

  • Went over the lyrics, then listened to and watched a video of them performing the song.

  • Began correcting the translation exercises of the 20 sentences using the subjunctive – changed to a different partner group.

  • Warm-up: Activity 2-30, page 67: practicing the subjunctive after impersonal expressions. (Homework stamped and credited during this.)  Corrected and debriefed afterwards.

  • Previewed Activity 2-31, page 68 – to complete as homework.

  • Oral de pareja – practicing using the subjunctive or the indicative depending on whether something is known to exist or not.  Activity: looking for a summer home and conversing with a real estate agent.

  • Debriefed oral and discussed some specialized vocabulary.

  • Read aloud with a new partner, page 68 – Pollution in Mexico City, page 68.  Followed up by taking turns reading aloud for the class and with a discussion about the reading.

  • Began to correct the verb list, as homework from last night.

  • Tarea: Activity 31, page 68 AND work on your research project.

  • Watched the Videohistoria 3A (Vocabulary comprehension-in context)

  • Introduced Direct Object Pronouns – in period 4

  • Reviewed some Irregular Preterite Verbs- first on the DVD

  • Took Notes on Ser, Ir, Dar and Ver – in the preterite (see the backside of the El Preterito packet)

  • Filled-in our verb grids (we used the backside of the one from lesson 2B) with the Irregular Preterite verbs: Ir, Estar, Tener, Andar, Ser, Poder, Hacer.

  • Introduced the homework:
1. Use a variety of the verbs & vocabulary from 3-A to write 10 sentences ( 5 singular subjects/5 plural ones).  Answer the following questions as you write your sentences, and they will “write themselves”¿Quién?¿Qué hizo/hicieron?¿Dónde? ¿Por qué
Ex: Sofía fue de compras a la tienda de equipo deportivo para comprar zapatos de correr.
2. Complete the Lotería handout from class today.  Be sure to include BOTH the preterite verb in Spanish AND that conjugation’s meaning in English.  Ex.  Abrí / I opened.
3. Study for Vocabulary Recognition test on Tuesday.
