el español II - el 31 de mayo de 2013

1. Lecturas culturales:  (A) El día de la raza - pg. 218 (B) La semana santa - Act. 10, pg. 219 + Preterite/Imperfect practice.
2. Partner Oral 4B-1: sharing childhood memories of birthday parties and picnics.
3. Big Homework Catch-up/Review: WB80-81, 82-83, & Act. 3, pg. 215.
4. El grillo y el jaguar - pp. 202-203 - Started reading this "fable" = great examples of when to use which past tense. 
 Students began the homework/tarea:
1. Make a 4-column table to fill-in all of the past tense verbs from the story on pp. 202-203 (there are 28 verbs) under the column for which past tense it is.
The  columns should be: # of Verb / Pretérito / Imperfecto / Por qué.
2. Plan on reading the story at least 3 times:
(1) - Find & list the verbs
(2) Read the story for meaning - try reading the Comprendiste first to help you focus on the important details.
(3) Scan the story again to now write out the answers to Comprendiste? on page 203

4. Cajas de cartón - Paquete de un cuento en dos partes.
5. Review for the final exam packets distributed.
Tarea:
Finish reading the Primera parte - Cajas de cartón , Write out answers to Qué pasó? and review the use of the preterite versus imperfecto.

El español II - el 29 de mayo de 2013

I was too sick to come to class again today, so here are the plans I left for the sub  for you:


1. Introduced Capítulo 4B - Vocabulario en contexto: pp. 212-213 + Actividades 1 & 2:  Polite manners in greeting, saying good bye and for being nice with others.

2. Students read the Fondo Cultural - pg. 216: El país vaso – Euskadi – the students read this aloud with a partner and then debriefed all together.

3. Video Historia: pp. 214-215: Students first watched the DVD  Then the students read this aloud with their seat partner.

4. Homework review –Workbook pages 80 & 81

5. Assigned the homework – Students may begin in class, if time permits.
Tarea/Homework:
1. Write out answers to Act. 3, pg. 215
2. WB 82-83
3. 4B Vocabulary List filled-in - see text page 234. (You already have this list attached to your 4A one.)

I was out sick again today - here are the plans I left for your sub:
1. Students read about Rigoberta Menchú, text page 99, then write out the answers to the questions.
 2. Verbs like Gustar (pp. 100-101). Go through pages 100-101 to read about verbs that function like “Gustar” – requiring an indirect object pronoun.  Students write out study notes and then practice by writing out Exercise 3-32.
3. Ask the students if they finished their movie, El norte.  

  • If not, please play it – selecting subtitles.  
  • If they have finished it, have them get into new partners – not their seat mate – and work on answering the questions in their packet.

Tarea:
1.    El norte packet: have the questions over the three parts of El Norte completed for review in class tomorrow.
2.    Practice Indirect Objects & Verbs like Gustar, WB 59, Ex. 3-13.

I woke up too sick to come to school today, so I asked the sub to just continue on with the movies you started on Friday.  I hope all went well and you had a good day today.

I was sorry to have to miss class today - I woke up really sick this morning.  I left instructions for the sub to continue with the showing of El norte.  I hope all went well!

El español II - el 24 de mayo de 2013




¡Feliz día de comida, juegos de mesa y película!
Students made buñuelos, salsa, guacamole, quesadillas, flan y pastelitos de boda. 
Gracias a los padres por su ayuda con la comida. – Thanks to all of the parents who help with today’s food day!
Some students played ajedrez, damas, y uno while others watched either (Hora 3a) El fantástico Sr. Zorro or (Hora 4ta) Enredados.
Hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend and we’ll be back on Tuesday finishing up Lección 4A and starting off 4B – remembering childhood celebrations.
Tarea:  You might have already finished WB80 & 81, assigned yesterday, for Tuesday
