El español II - el 31 de octubre de 2012

1. Warm-up sentences - Practicing using 2 verbs together (see page 71).

2. Corrected homework - page 28 in Workbook = 2 verbs together

3. Reflexive Verbs - Read the grammar box at the top of page 80 and then I gave examples of NON-REFLEXIVE verbs versus REFLEXIVE ones. We saw the "Goofy Grammar" Video and did their "Quiz", and then we got a NEW VERB GRID - we filled in the meanings & some of the forms.

4. Parts of the body - Skeleton drawing - labeled in Spanish & practiced the names of the 5 senses, too.

5. Día de los Espíritus - Activity packet

Tarea:
EXTRA CREDIT! - 2 Lotería games: Use the vocabulary list to fill out the games with BOTH Spanish and English meanings.

El español II - el 30 de octubre de 2012

1. Repaso - La ropa : Warm-up "quiz" from last night's study homework + practice with magnetic paper dolls & clothes.

2. Repaso - La cara (the face) - Magnetic face & features as well as 'Simón dice'. 

3. El cuerpo - Hora 3a = Sang "Cabeza, hombros, rodillas, pies" as Hora 2a did yesterday.
BOTH classes sang and danced to Lonnie Dai Zovi's "Mi cuerpo".

4. Homework - Workbook page 27 - Clothing & body vocabulary.

5. Page 71 = 2 verbs together.  We practiced with some examples and read the grammar box. Hora 2a did Act. 4.

6. Started introducing the new vocabulary - PAGE 96: Reflexive Verbs - we copied the 16 verbs in the first section onto a verb grid = 1st 2 columns ONLY - Spanish = English.  I want to help everyone do the forms correctly, so let's do this in class.

Tarea:
1. Workbook page 28 = Like page 71 in the book.
2. Flashcards for the first 2 sections on page 96

Reviewed " El cuerpo humano" and "la ropa" - Spanish I "mini-review lesson":
 A ver si recuerdas, page 70.  
We added in lots of other vocabulary, too - check the link below but also get notes.
1. Wrote out the vocabulary - making our own study list.
2. Working with a partner we wrote out Act. 1, page 70 and then discussed it.
3. Crucigrama - blue crossword, using body and clothing.
4. Hora 2a - We did a version of Act. 2, but sang - "Cabeza, hombros,rodillas, pies".

Progress Reports -
I handed out a 3-page P.R.: Modify your goals to include the percentages from your Homework, In-class Work or your Tests categories.  Write, or staple, them onto your LAST PAGE of your Progress Report and have your parents sign them.

Hora 2a - Watched more of Enredados; Hora 3a - did the listening section of the 1B Test.

Tarea:
1. STUDY the vocabulary from page 70 & our notes.
2. Complete Work Book page 27.
3. Complete the Progress Report Goals (see above).

Remember – A GOAL without a PLAN is just a WISH.  Make your goals reality by having a realistic PLAN and STICKING WITH IT.

1. WHAT will you achieve? – Will you IMPROVE or MAINTAIN your current grade in:
·        Homework
·        In-Class Performance
·        Tests Scores

2. HOW will you achieve this?
·        Study Skills – WHICH ones will you use?   - WHEN will you STUDY? – With WHOM?  How do you plan on having this affect your TEST GRADES?

·        Homework Habits – How will you verify you know what’s been assigned? – WHEN and WHERE will you DO your assignments?

·        In-Class Performance – What will YOU DO to be: PREPARED for class? Add to the POSITIVE Learning Environment? Be PUNCTUAL? Stay ON-TASK?  Do ACCURATE work? COMPLETE all MAKE-UPS within 1 week – DAILY POINTS as well as WRITTEN WORK?

1. Reviewed/corrected the homework sentences - using the 1B vocabulary in context.

2. EL PASADO - We reviewed page 129 and corrected Ex. 2 in our new packet - El Imperfecto versus El Indefinido (el pretérito).  Then we continued on with the exercises and study notes working with a partner through the bottom of page 132 - Contar historias.

3. Charlas:  Breena, Erin, James & Nick. 

Tarea:
(1) Write 2 goals with action plans - 1 = by end of quarter (2 weeks); 1 = Next quarter (see separate post).

1. Precaliento: WB 34 = El pretérito o el imperfecto
2. Repaso = El Paquete - El Imperfecto/Indefinido (Pretérito)/Pretérito Perfecto.  We reviewed the first two uses of the past - comparing the uses of the Preterite and the Imperfect.  Then we corrected Exercise 1.
3. Repaso - La Malinche - verified our choices of the past tenses. 
4. La Malinche ORAL - We read our part of the story aloud to our partner who put the coordinating drawings in their correct order.
5. Charlas - Ian and Zoe shared their travel stories today.

El español II - 1B Project Guidelines



Español II                                             Nombre ________________________

1B -Mis actividades e intereses (My activities and interests)

1.  Each square should have a picture in the top part, and minimum 2-3 sentences in the bottom part, so 6 illustrations total.
2.  Pictures can be computer graphics, cut-outs from magazines, or your own drawings. 
3.  To include:       
• Hobbies, extracurricular activities, sports, clubs, things you, friends and/or family like to do.
• Complete sentences; 2-3 sentences for each graphic; Vary the type of information you use for each drawing. 
• It can be really about you, or pretend
• Use what you know from pages 42 - 68 in your textbook: Vocabulary & Structures =  Comparisons, Saber + infinitive, Saber, Conocer, Hace + time expressions).  Use each 1B structure at least 2 times in the whole project as well as other knowledge you have.

4.  GRADING:  Neatness and accuracy counts!  Color makes it more interesting!

Be ready to show your picture, and read your text aloud to a small group. 
A few STARS will be asked to share with the whole class!

EXAMPLE:

                  Use EACH 1B Structure 2 times.
   6 points: Neatness - Typed or Printed in Black or Dark Blue Ink, Clarity of Message.

2. El pretérito y el imperfecto - pp. 28 & 32 + HOJA extra (semáforo del pasado).  Los usos y los cambios de sentido entre ellos.  + PAQUETE NUEVO: El Imperfecto - El Indefinido (Pretérito) - El Pretérito Perfecto (presente del perfecto). 

3.Repaso de las tareas:
(A) Receta para un cuento perfecto = we shared as a whole class and I compared it to the "Mapa del cuento"  Then we got together with our partners and read our "recetas & entrevista entre reportero/a y personaje de un cuento de hadas.  Trabajó con pareja (de las 12:00)


4. Charlas - Un viaje del pasado: Harrison, Katherine, Austin

Tarea:
(1) Activity 1 - NEW past tense packet:
Completed Action? = Preterite; Incompleted Action? = Imperfect.
(2) YOUR half of the MALINCHE story - complete the story with the preterite/imperfect of the verb given and be ready to tell your half of the story tomorrow with the same partner you had today.
