Tarea:

Remember ALL of your written work for your Research Project ORAL for your I.B. Internal Assessment Project is DUE the day we return: el 3 de enero.

The FIVE things that are due are:

1. One copy of your “Specialized/Thematic Vocabulary List : Spanish/

English” and 5 “Intelligent Comprehension Questions” well written in Spanish AND their ANSWERS. (ONLT the teacher’s copy includes the answers)

2. PROOF of your INTERNALIZATION of your RESEARCH information.

(A) “Research cards” – bibliographic citation AND your notes over what you’ve learned. (B) DETAILED Graphic Organizer combining like topics (C) Outline of sequence of topics with supporting information.

3. A Bibliography with a MINIMUM of 5 sources – At least 3 of them in Spanish, 2 of them from the Web – All may be from the Web.

NOTE: For your WEB PAGE SOURCES I need MORE than just the URL. I want the DATE you visited the site, the Sponsoring Organization for the site, the date of the last update and the Author of the information you are using – if it tells you.

4. Photocopies of just the information you are using from your sources.

5. Copy of your Presentation Slides: On Power Point, choose the PRINT option “Slides” then “3 slides per page”.

Español II el 15 de diciembre de 2011

I. We organized/confirmed who would do what for our "Día de comida" tomorrow.

II. Orales de pareja= We used most of the class period doing these partner orals.
We had 8 rounds of students alternating asking questions then the next round asking questions.

All of the students changed position every round - We used concentric circles (inner/outer).

The interviewer also did peer assessment on the partner answering the questions.

I was really impressed with how well everyone did!
Buen trabajo, estudiantes! - Felicidades! Enbuenahora!

III. We didn't have much time left so we just watched some more of The Polar Express, en español.

Tarea:
Thanks for bringing in the item you promised for tomorrow - you can drop it by the classroom before Block 1 tomorrow.

(B) played Lotería - Bingo with the irregular preterite verbs.

4. Preliminary Plans for our FOOD DAY on FRIDAY - check with your folks about the food you want to bring/cook for class.

Tarea:

2. El pretérito
(A) Practice sentences using: Tener, Estar, Poder & Hacer

(C) Preterite Questions - Practice for THURSDAY'S ORAL EXAM.

3. Direct Object Pronouns - new packet (Azul) - we worked through the beginning pages and did Practice A.

4. We watched a bit more of The Polar Express, en español.

2. Lotería - Irregular Preterite Verbs. Prepare this game as before: Write in the answers in BOTH Spanish and English using the subject of the verb, too. Example: Tuve - I had, Pudiste - You could.

4. More practice with the preterite - flashcards for irregulars and with the verb grid. Also: SONG - La cucaracha with irregular preterites.

(D) Filled-in the CONJUGATIONS for the 'U' GROUP.

Tarea:
1. Final copy of your Dream House project - follow the directions on your handout "Mi casa de sueños".

I. Lots of practice with the vocabulary about the house and chores.
See pages 126.
We used the list from yesterday and several handouts from today:
(1) White, two-sided: Crossword, matching and partner conversation
(2) Two-sided picture flashcards: household furnishings.
(3) Lotería = vocabulary on the reverse

II. Introduced the "Mi casa de sueños" project - Handout.
Blueprint style drawing of a house with at least 5 rooms - each furnished. The room and all furnishings are labeled in Spanish. Be ready to explain your house to someone else.
I shared a couple of examples from previous years to give an idea of what it should look like.

III. Telling Time - see page 127. We used the vocabulary list expressions and my own clock prop to practice say What time it is now AND AT what time events happen.

Tarea:
1. First three steps in the House drawing project.
2. Complete the Lotería of the home and furnishings - BOTH Spanish and English answers in each box.

II. Introduced the RESEARCH ORAL PROJECT re: Hispanic/Latino Culture - IB Internal Assessment. All written support material due on 01/03/12. Packet of instructions and tips for success.

III. Reviewed homework

IV. Period 1 - a few more people presented their ecology posters.

Tarea:
1. Project Proposal = Indicate 3 different possible topics for your project AND 3 dates you'd like to present. Both classes begin on 01/03/12. Period 1 - finishes on 01/20/12 and Period 4 on 01/24/12.
2. Complete the Tarea de repaso packet begun in class.
3. Be sure to turn-in your signed permission to see the movies for our next unit.

Criteria:
(A) Poster: 8.5"X11" - NO LARGER, please. We have to hang 60 of these!
1. Include a catchy slogan that:
a. gets our attention a highlights your ecological problem.
b. motivates us to act/change our "bad habits".
2. Your visuals should make clear what we should do.
(B) Oral - Succinctly, and accurately, describe the situation (1 min.) and then be able to answer logical questions on your topic. Your answers need to be accurate, factual information so ANTICIPATE what the questions might be and then do enough research to be able to accurately answer them.

I. Práctica del vocabulario: warm-up sentences and then definition & word match exercises. Got a new version of the 2A vocabulary list showing how one can reorganize words into like categories - really helps in learning them!

II. Repaso de tareas:
A. Workbook page WB41 - both exercises. We practiced picking out the contextual cues for the missing words.
B. Ser/Estar packet - checked our answers and discussed WHY they were correct.

III. More Ser/Estar - working with a partner students completed EX. B - how some adjectives change their meaning with ser and estar.

IV. Haber - see study notes on pp. 51-52 = the 3 uses for "Haber". 2 Handouts: All conjugations of Haber; Los perfectos/Repaso de los tiempos

V. Review of verb tenses studied so far - practica/the reverse of the Perfectos handout.

Tarea:
